A F-16B MLU from the Chilean Air Force (FACh) has suffered -on March 30, 2012- a hydraulic failure that resulted in the inability to extend the landing gear, forcing the aircraft to perform a "belly lading" in Antofagasta air base.
The FACh has begun an investigation to establish the causes of this mishap.
Below are some pictures of the incident.
Regards.

FACh source said that at 13:10 hrs, an F-16BM from V Brigade in an instruction flight, has an hydraulic failure, then performed an belly landing on the Cerro Moreno Air Base.
The crew, composed of two, controled the situation escaping unhurt. An investigation is been made to determine the causes of the mishap.

Good question. I can see the open nose gear door and the partially extended nose wheel/tire in last photo after zooming in and lightening the shadows. Same photo shows what might be left of a centerline tank; but, it's hard to tell; especially since there's no centerline tank in the tow picture.
Maybe there was a problem with alternate extension.
