I know we're supposed to start transitioning to the F-35; it's been referenced in several local news stories like http://www.ksat.com/news/149th-Fighter- ... index.html and here: http://www.sanantonio.gov/oma/pdf/Feb%2 ... 0Final.pdf

Does anyone have any recent updates on the 149th's selection/transition to F-35s? The earlier news story said 2012, while the slides say 2015, with jets on the ramp in 2017. I hadn't seen many recent threads in the F-35 forum devoted to the 149th, so I was just curious.

"4/13/2012 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- The Air Force has filed a draft environmental impact statement for the proposed operational basing of the F-35 Lightning II within the continental United States.

The current active Air Force and Air National Guard alternatives under consideration are: Burlington Air Guard Station, Vt.; Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Jacksonville Air Guard Station, Fla.; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; and Shaw AFB/McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C."
