Just wanted to tell all my Viper-driving friends that my book, Penalty of Pride, is finally out. The most popular character in the book seems to be the young LT Kidd, a USAF F-16 pilot, who holds off hordes of North Korean MiG-17s through -29s with his Viper.
As an Army Special Ops Pilot, I've worked with you high-fliers for years and I hope that I've done a fair job of putting you all in a good light. 'Course it wasn't always easy to keep the friendly jabs to myself, but I honestly tried:)
In all seriousness, though, I hope that some of you read it and I would be pleased to get your honest feedback to the book. Just remember that I had to water some of it down because the general public doesn't really care about the difference between a Heat Seeker and a BVR-too many acronyms seem to confuse the typical reader. Having said that, I did try to make it enjoyable for someone who doesn't know what OEF or OIF are as well as those of us who have fought and bled there.
A special thanks goes to all of you here for such a fantastic site that I've been lurking in for several years now. There are a few of you that I'd like to send a book to, but I'll have to wait for their responses.
If anybody is interested, the paperback is on Amazon at: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1470043211/threefournineA">Penalty of Pride: Dispersive Ground (Paperback)</a>
and the digital copy is at: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B007H1J5HE/threefournineA">Penalty of Pride: Dispersive Ground (Kindle eBook)</a>
Feel free to send me any comments you might have as I welcome your honest opinions.
Cheers,
mjHangge |

| Just one question... is your book in the same vein as the Wingman books because those were just terrible. If not I'd give it a look. |

| Well, I should be honest and tell you that I've never read the Wingman books, but a quick look at the cover was enough to ensure me that the answer is a resounding no. My book is a serious novel about a fictional second Korea war following Kim Jong Il's death. My F-16 pilot is just one character in a full house of characters, but he's been very popular with many of the readers and I think many of you will enjoy him as well as many of the others. The book encompasses every aspect of the war and the air battles are simply a part of the whole. |

Okay folks, help me out here. I know there's some Viper drivers checking their big Breitlings right now and looking for a good book to read. (You know I'm just joking here:) I think you'll like the book and I need the help to get my name out there. Here's the link for the first commercial we put out for the book http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqAd5TiiULw#!
Give the book a try, I think some of you will be pleasantly surprised. If you like it, tell me! If you don't like it, tell me! (Just don't tell anybody else you didn't
Thanks,
Mike |

VQC, hope you enjoy it!
Light, thanks, I'm glad you read it.
I'm at the Naval Test Pilot School right now, so I'm trying to find some folks around here that'll give it a shot, too. Publishing is a tough business to break in to, so having some readers and positive reviews in my pocket sure helps get a better publishing contract.
Cheers,
Mike |
