F-35A AF-14 First Flight (sorry for the typo in subj - fixed)
"Lockheed Martin test pilot Bill Gigliotti flew the ninth production model of the F-35 Lightning II, F-35A AF-14 (Air Force serial number 09-5001), on its inaugural flight on 2 March 2012 from NAS Fort Worth JRB."

Well done, the first one from LRIP-3!
There are still 3 B's from LRIP-2 (BF-9/10/11) to take off for the first time, I guess it's gonna be soon..
The serial number of AF-14 (AF 09-5001) is not sequentially anymore (AF-13 got the serial AF 08-0751), how come?

I may receive some flak for this, but so be it. Why is it that a brand new aircraft, that I suppose came basically straight from the paint shop, basically looks like it has been prepped to go in to the paint shop?  |

Interesting to see the nozzle design is constantly evolving with each new F-35 instance. These new nozzles seem to be made of a different substance or painted with something different (gold'ish in colour). There are also new serations along the length of the feathers (have to zoom the pic in to see it)
....... or maybe my browser is adding the serations >< stupid browser |

The nozzles definitely have been changed. The nozzle on the latest jets seems to be more gold in color vs dark gray, and is lacking raised serrations seen on earlier nozzles. You can clearly see the raised serrations in the pictures of earlier F-35. The newer nozzles are much more uniform/less [Link pending approval]
