Has anyone written an in depth review of this kit/toy? I'm curious to know how easily it will be to replace the weapons?
While I have your attention, has anyone thought to produce & sell a new weapons set or decals set for this HUGE Viper? I know I would definitely be interested in making this model as accurate as possible! |

As I just got one, I can tell you that ALL weapons on it are removeable...and some of them SHOULD be!
Even the pylons can be taken on and off very easily. The pylons are pretty good accuracy, and so are the two fuel tanks...but the bombs, AIM-9s and HARMS could be far better. I think I'll build my own AIM-9s, or else a set of AIM-120Cs.
I also can't wait until people start selling add-on weapons and details for these kits, as each one gets better and better! This seat, for instance, is WAY better than the seat in the F/A-18, and so is the gear fit.

| I wouldn't be surprised if there's not aftermarket sets or decals that will ever be available for this kit. My impression based on what I've read at ARC is that this is more of a toy than anything else. There was a link posted once there, I'll try looking for it. |

I haven't seen one of these kits in person but, after looking at the pics on their website, I have the following observations:
The model has the NSI (small mouth) inlet and a GE engine nozzle, a WAC HUD and the ASPJ scoops on the base of the vertical tail. This means the model depicts an early Block 30, before they started using the MCID (big mouth) inlets.
Now, looking at the tail markings and serial numbers:
- EF 83-1147 = Block 25 (NSI/PW/WAC, no ASPJ scoops)
- Cal ANG 84-1234 = Block 25 (NSI/PW/WAC, no ASPJ scoops)
- NY 84-1255 = Block 25 (NSI/PW/WAC, no ASPJ scoops)
- FW 84-1377 = Block 25 (NSI/PW/WAC, no ASPJ scoops)
- FS 87-0299 = Block 32 (NSI/PW/WAC)
- AL 88-0399 = late Block 30 (MCID/GE/WAC)
- WP 89-2013 = Block 40 (MCID/GE/WAR)
- SC 92-3911 = Block 52 (NSI/PW/WAC)
This means that NONE of the markings chosen by BBI accurately reflect the airframe depicted by the model.
They do offer a kit sans decals.... Hmmmmm. |

| My first observation was that those aren't HARMs.....those are Sparrows hanging under the wings. It's a pretty impressive looking replica (if you don't mind the inacuracies), but I'll stick to building my own models thank you. |

Okay ... What units operated or are currently operating the early small mouth, GE equipped Blk 30 Viper? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated!
I just got my BBI Viper in the mail and am holding off on applying the markings until I have the time to modify/upgrade the missiles/bombs that came with it. Thanks! |

| How easy would it be to convert this to a block 52? Hmmmmm? Besides the PnW engine, HTS pod, and AIFF antennae, it could be done! |

| it seems like the only F-16s you can reasonably make out of this toy/kit are early Block 30s including F-16Ns. A F-16N at that scale would look pretty sweet, if you don't mind the innacuracies and toy aspect of it. |

How goes the 'upgrade' to the viper, phixer?
and how soon till the after market stuff hits the streets. I was actually looking at an 'upgrade' to their 'Pave Hawk'. might look pretty awsome hangin from the office ceiling. |

My feelings exactly. My boys really liked them (both the F-18 & F-16) but it's over priced for just a toy.

I just got this TOY....and its completely terrible...I have never seen a toy that has different color panels everywhere, seams gaping, and adhesive seepage all over....this would be nice for a cheaper price...but definately not for me.
I am sending mine back tomorrow!
