So, the new concept from Boeing for a proposed SH replacement is already being jokingly called a J-20 copy by the guys at Sinodefense, and the reasons are a canard configuration and DSI inlets.

What on earth is a supposely super-stealthy concept doing with canards? Confused

Somebody is having fun with Adobe Illustrator / 3D modelling software

Until the aerdynamicist / technician responsible for Stealth sees this, it's an artists interpretation?

I would think so, but to what degree is the question. IOC for this thing is two decades away, so they would have to have some idea of the configuration by now... I think.

Who knows.

Wasn't the X-32 going to have a different final design then the prototype they made?

?
OK, I'll bite, why should a tail be more stealthy than a canard?

Not even L-M says so, they choose the tail configuration for other reasons, as discussed in other forums here.

If you want super stealth (I take it you mean in lower frequency bands) you need a flying wing, and a flying wing fighter have other drawbacks, IMHO.

Best Regards

Lockheed changed from that design for the X-35 because, among other things, it couldn't easily fly the required approach to the carrier.

I would have thought that canards would have made low-speed, low AOA approaches easier than tailplanes.
