I've been finding a lot of illustrations of F-4s (mostly Ds and Es) with two TERs carrying AGM-65As. Just wondering, was this ever a used USAF load? Did the Rhino carry all variants of the Maverick, or only the A? Finally, where was the TV for the missile's feed? I've heard things about Sony TVs in the cockpit for controlling the missiles, but am not sure which cockpit this was mounted in, nor where it would be mounted, since the Rhino is pretty crammed full of electromechanical goodies Smile Smile

Only have a little tidbit to add here. I was in Thailand in 66-67, and I did see a Rhino with 2 TV equipped weapons hung on it. I want to say that they were bombs, but I don't really recall. I did look it up at one time, but all I remember is that I verified that they were TV equipped.

Where the receiver was, I have no idea. Since it was probably an experimental deal, they probably stuck it wherever they could.

My F-4E Dash One doesn't have anything specific.

All I have found is that the modded F-4Es had a new Digital Scan Converter Group instrument to replace the existing radar displays. Was this for both cockpits? Don't know. Also don't know where the Maverick controls were...back seat radar control stick?

Found out today that one of the guys at work flew this mod.

He says that the radar scope would convert to a Maverick display in both cockpits. The WSO radar control handle controlled the missile lock on.

The cursor or antenna control?? IIRC, the cursor controls were some funny slide-switches, but the antenna control was a regular joystick.

Now to find out if the Maverick's camera could be linked to an LCD wired into the system...
