Hi guys,
I have my little topis in Armaments forum here http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-15192.html, but now have two general questions, which I think the non-technical guys would be better to ask:
Does anyone remeber what year did the first Polish pilots arrive in USA for F-16 training after the Viper was chosen as the new multirole fighter for the Polish Air force?
Were they trained at Tucson?
Thanks a mil

| They trained in Tucson and prolly arrived sometime in 2005 prior to the first jet deliveries (2006). |

November 15, 2005 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Colonel Ro?cis?aw Stepaniuk is the first Polish pilot trained to fly the F16C Block 52M+. Colonel Stepaniuk completed his seven months' training in Tucson, Arizona.
He is the first of thirteen Polish pilots currently in the US and one of 48 who will undergo the training within the next three years; one for each F-16 plane bought by Poland.
The cost of training one pilot, including 62 flights, is estimated at 1 million US dollars.

| Thank you for finding that out, Lightndattic. I thought it was 2003, don't know where I got that from. Got that corrected in my text now. Thanks! |

| I've taught quite a few (we had a huge influx back in '06), and I've noticed quite a few more coming through in the last seven or eight months...just talked to a Polish lieutenant the other day from the 10th SQ at Lask, and he was telling me about the Viper upgrades. |

Here's a recent article from Code One with more info: http://www.codeonemagazine.com/article.html?item_id=87
"Most Polish F-16 pilots are sent for English language instruction to the Defense Language Institute English Language Center at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. The language instruction lasts from four to seven months depending on a pilot’s language proficiency. From the institute, they go through a basic flight and instrument course conducted in the T-38 Talon at several US bases. That course is followed by an introduction to a fighter fundamentals course, which is also conducted in the T-38. Most pilots are introduced to the F-16 at the 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard in Tucson." |
