Hello everyone...
There are plenty of great ways to spend a Saturday morning, I however, spent this one taking the AFOQT. I am writing to say that I studied my a$$ off from the ARCO book and the test was still really hard. Not so much from the difficulty of the questions, but from the tight time limits on the sections. There is one section with 40 quesitons you must answer in something like 7 minutes, and another with 15 quesitons in 3 minutes etc.
Anyway, my question is, did other people who took the AFOQT feel rushed and unsure of their outcome but still do OK? I'd really like to avoid taking the test again and UPT boards are coming up fast so a retake may not be an option. Any advice is much-appreciated!

I took it about 3 1/2 yrs ago, and yeah I felt rushed during some parts of it. It felt weird to take a question that had sections that didn't test your ability to comprehend some problems, but your ability to solve them in a limited time! I still did well though. Don't remember all of my scores, but I do remember I got an 80 in pilot and 85 in nav. Too bad I can't fly in the AF though (vision) |

| Well I really cant tell you how you probably did since your experiance was completely differnt from mine. When I took the ASTB for the Navy (Marines at the time though) I didnt think it was hard, but its not like it bent over for me. I was real happy with my scores though best to just wait and see and try not to think about it to much, cant do anything about it now. |

Check your scores here:
http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/afoqts
I've taken both the AFOQT and the ASTB. Took the AFOQT as a soph. and ASTB my senior year. I thought the ASTB was harder than the AFOQT, and thats after several years of college (maybe my mind was just numb from school). Did better on the AFOQT than the ASTB:
AFOQT: 98 Pilot, 91 Nav
ASTB: 8 PFAR, 7 FOFAR
The next step is to get the BAT test out of the way so you can get your PCSM score. The boards will look more at that when considering you for a UPT slot. |

| I passed the AFOQT in 1979. I thought it was great. I was a Sgt. in the USAF. They had a program called AECP. Airman's Education and Commissioning Program. The Air Force would put you through a four year college degree and you had to commit 6 more years in the service after you graduated. I was all gung-ho. Sing me up baby! Then they told me that most (80%) of the operational pilots in the USAF come from the USAF academy or ROTC programs. They would not guarantee me a flying job once I was commissioned. I balked. I got out and continued my profession as an airport firefighter. I now wonder if there was a chance to strap on a fighter. |

Anyone have questions about pilot slots for the Guard... let me know. Also, I will give help with the AFOQT (not the BAT sorry).

Those are some sweet scores. Any chance you could anonymously add them to the WantsCheck.Com Pilot Slot Stats database? Great way to compile the data and helps guys quite a bit when "reporting their scores."
A good link to check out the Stats database is http://www.wantscheck.com/Default.aspx?tabid=238
Nice job and have fun in UPT! |

The BAT... I hear its like a video game... lots of guys my dad worked with say its not really a good test of how well you could be able to fly, its been proven that pilots fly airplanes different and better that simulators... but others say it is a good gauge your capacity to take in a lot of info and process it... you can only take it once, thats kinda nerve racking... |
