Hi guys,

Besides the two XL-ships and the AFTI F-16, NASA had one other F-16 in service through the years. As long as it was based at Langley AFB it wore registration N516NA and when it was transferred to Edwards AFB it became N816NA.

So far we have no photo material of this aircraft at all. So if you have any pictures of this aircraft, please let us know.

Greets,

DeepSpace,

Thank you very much.
If any of you guys have other pics of this airframe, please let me know in this topic. Pics of the 816 (white bird) are also welcome.

Greets,

Other links to NASA Dryden............

http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/ ... 939-8.html

http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/ ... 293-1.html

Gives photos and status information for NASA 516

From looking closely at the photo of N516, it may have a -229 installed?

Anyone at Dryden/Edwards to confirm or deny?

Sorry to tripple post Bjorn, but....... Embarassed

Here is a link to NASA's NIX (NASA Image eXchange) Do a search for F-16. There are even some videos available!

Hello Bjorn,

A few months ago I posted the picture of that viper in white colors with the serial 816 on his tail, I was trying to find the real serial of that viper, and found it, the serial is 82-0976.
Hope this can help a bit.

Greetings from nellis.

Ah Nellis,

Yes, we know the serial already. That wasn't a question. But thanks anyway.

The ironic thing is that I can count on one hand how many times this NASA F-16A flew for the program.

It's now permantly parked in front of the Dyden exit, off Rosamond Bld, Edwards AFB, as a gate guard.

I've checked the Dryden photo collection and the only air photos of F-16s I've found are the XLs, AFTI and VISTA. Except for a few photos which shows the 516 on the ground. These photos are not copyrighted, but read agreement here
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/reproduction_guidelines.html

More images (including hires)are available in the 1990's fleet collection

If you know anybody at Ames that might have any pics, I might be able to help
