Hello everyone
I've two questions about the B-1A
1- What was its maximum speed at low level? Initially it was supposed to be Mach [Link pending approval] with the use of titanium but it was scaled down to mach [Link pending approval] However, I've read somewhere that during tests at Edwards, it went beyond Mach 1 at less that 100 ft AGL. Can anyone confirm this?
2- Has someone any info about its FLIR system?

| when it comes to low altitude max speed the big issue isn't always thrust, but dynamic pressure, or qmax. If it had the Thrust/Drag to go M1.25 in the first place then it still did with the limit lowered to M.85. Going to M1 during testing simply shows a safety margin in the design (typically 50%, but not always). |
