Does anyone know who holds the contract for DEPOT maintenance on the F-16's or F-22's located at Hill AFB.

My understanding is that the 309th Aircraft Maintenance Group does that depot maintenance. See http://www.hill.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-100409-048.pdf. So the contract is with Ogden ALC.

If you really want a job there that bad. With your retiree ID card. Just go to your old shop and talk to the guys that work there now. They will have all the info on companys that are hiring.

Hill is on a hiring freeze till February, even 309th is having trouble. Lot of stress, and no hiring makes it difficult to work there. When the freeze ends, there may be more opportunities.

He is looking for any job. I'm sure they have contractors there.

Currently I am stationed at Ramstein AB and will be starting my PTDY/Terminal leave in March. My Retirement Date is Aug 1st. So walking into my old shop is not a option. I have called but nobody there knows anything about the DEPOT side. I am wanting to roll into a job with the F-16's (as I worked them for 9yrs there at Hill) or even a position with the F-22's.

Dont get your hopes up for a Federal Job at Hill. Most of last years cuts. And this years upcoming RIFs will be coming out of Material Command.

Thats why I said if you have your heart set on Hill. Talk to the guys there and see who is hiring. Someone like Lockheed. Pratt or Boeing. They wont be under the same restrictions.

"They wont be under the same restrictions". Sadly they are getting hit just as hard (if not harder). Contracts and contractors on the base are falling fast. It makes sense....no money, no contracts.

There is always problems when money is involved.

But with a temp or contract position. You don't see the " We cant hire anyone " nonsense.

Contractors get paid for the work. If there's no work. You don't need contractors. If there is work. It doesn't take 12 months to fill a position. Like it is with Uncle Sam.

If he wants to go to Hill. All he has to do is go the BX. And start working an hour after his drug test.

Then he can network with the rest of the retirees when they come into the Class 6 store.

Get on board anyway you can whether it's as a contractor or civil service. The easiest way to get the job you want is to just get there first, then make contacts and do a little networking. There's never a guarantee that you'll get permanently hired, but if you're resume is in order and you're a good worker people can see that firsthand. Good luck! Salute
