Shocked

Call Wing Safety, the SOF, and the Wing FOD Monitor!

I see a multiple serious safety/operational violations in that photo!

Some of those aircraft are less than one length away from the one DIRECTLY in front of them.....

And they wonder why they FOD engines?

Doh TEG

Not to mention if one of the stick-actuators is "excessively motivated to succeed" a collision is almost assured.

Guys, in my spare time I figured out a small quiz related to this pretty unusual picture above:

Out here are better pics via http://www.kunsan.af.mil/

http://www.kunsan.af.mil/shared/media/p ... 96-075.jpg
http://www.kunsan.af.mil/shared/media/p ... 96-146.JPG

Here's the riddle for ya. Please give:

1. Total amount of fuel seen in the picture (we assume each aircraft is fully fueled, for simplicity let's say they're all C_models).
2. The amount of WVR missiles.
3. The amount of BVR missiles.
3. The amount of bombs.
4. Total weight of bombs (assume every aircraft has the same stores config).
5. What's on station 5.
6. What's on station 5R.

Good luck Thumb

I don't dispute your concerns, but I will say that long lenses (like the one this photog prolly used) can and do skew distance perception. The jets in the first two rows could be between 150 and 200 ft. apart judging from the runway edge light spacing. The following jets do appear to be closer to each other tho. And there's nothing in that pic that suggests the jets were actually moving at the time it was snapped. Maybe they all set the Park Brake switch and said CHEEEESE!! ? Wink Can you park jets nose-to-tail that close with the engines running at idle?

This and the other elephant walk were planned far in advance... all in the budget!

That would have been a perfect time for an "accidental" artillery strike by the North Koreans. Taking out 2 entire wings worth of F-16s would've been a crippling blow to the South and US. This picture however probably dealt a crippling psychological blow to the NK AF.

Considering what North Korea has for an air force, I agree that the photo was a "crippling psychological blow" Thumb Great photo too.

Kind of a stretch for the NK Artillery batteries.... and it would take much more than one artillery shell to take out the runway at Kunsan. Artillery shells took out some F-4s at a base in South Vietnam during the conflict in SEA ... and that base went on and continued flying strikes.
