| I always knew the F-35 could do better than what was publicized in the past. Here's to the F-35 exceeding the performance standards labeled on it by its detractors and showing them that America and her allies NEED this aircraft. It can maneuver just like an F-16 in most ways and even BETTER in some if these new tests have anything to say about it. |

I'm glad someone has a sense of humour: [From above blog entry]
http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/blogs/de ... d=blogDest
"...Initial sensor fusion between the EW systems and radar “went pretty well,” says Griffiths. “We have had the DAS (distributed aperture system) running on the aircraft for the first time, providing 360 deg. coverage. You can see right through the aircraft which is wild,” he comments. The DAS is an internally mounted, multi-functional sensor for air-to-air and air-to-surface targeting capability. “It’s pretty cool and sort of feels like Wonder Woman’s invisible jet. The DAS is working well and enables you to pick up things you wouldn’t normally be able to see because the system’s apertures work at different wavelengths to the human eyeball. It can see details that with your eyes you cannot see, for example on overwater flights looking along the coastline you can pick out details of buildings much more clearly,” he adds...."

Apparently her invisible jet is more multirole than the JSF. I'm assuming that's Col. Trevor with her.. either MEDEVAC OR party configuration.. |

I believe it's safe to say it's the latter. |

It'll be interesting to hear the naysayer's responses, when their apple carts are overturned. |

| Are these sorts of tests performed straight-and-level, or will they go into a dive if necessary? Are STOVL and CV also scheduled for this specific test? An LM rep openly told me that the CV was scheduled for carrier ops in early 2013 - does this mean there is a public testing schedule somewhere? |

Flying level. The B/C variants envelope testing is still occurring, but all 3 variants will be able to reach M1.6(and likely faster). |

I am eagerly awaiting Mr Sweetman's retraction of his M1.5 top speed claim.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/74484895/FICONSweetman (See slide 13)
(Where the hell did he ever get that idea anyway? His Australian blogger friends' "analysis" I assume?) |

Well at least it's faster than an A-7.
(BTW it looks like she's having some difficulty with the 'stick'.) |

| I'm wondering what else the F-35 can do considering its capabilities haven't been fully tested yet. I would imagine it would be able to actually be quite impressive given the raw excess thrust of the F-135 and the Low-drag profile of the F-35. |

| I hope they release a video of the F35 doing high G maneuvers. So far pretty much everything has been straight and level. |
