P-38's a legend.

F-35 well... Hopefully it will have a similar story to the A-10 Smile

I think it would be more appropriate to put it next to an F-105.

There is a reason the P-38 is sitting there... It's called the F-35 "Lightning" for a reason you know.

As far as the F-105 reference, lay off the APA Kool-Aid Wink

The thud had more gun kills than anything else in our arsenal, and it was a straight line go fast machine.

The days of the A2A gun kill are almost to an end.

The APA and their acolytes have been pounding the "it's just a Thunderchief II" drumbbeat for years. They refer to it as "the first US single seat single engine bomber designed since the 1960s LTV A-7A-D Corsair II". Their inference being that it is not really a fighter which completely ignores the trend away from dedicated, single-mission aircraft and the development of multi-mission fighters like the F-15/16/18s of today.
