| Hey, I love gabbing about new ordnance, and the SDB II is one of my favorites. It has huge potential and I hope it survives the upcoming cuts. |

Brimstone looks like a good candidate for boat swarm plinking. Ripple fire, decent trashfire/MANPADS standoff, fire and forget, already candidate for F-3 integration, good against maneuvering targets.

JAGMwould be even more lethal with an IR seeker thrown in. |

Having seen this news recently I was wondering if these rockets would be carried in non-stealth mode by potential RAN F-35Bs off LHDs for small boat swarm plinking?
Well as these aren't an objective weapon even for services that ARE planning to operate B model JSF's, I suspect not. For a defence force that isn't even planning on operating these aircraft...
However, a guided rocket system is a very likely upgrade for the Tiger ARH's which is already programmed and probably for the Navy's newly ordered MH-60R Seahawk's.
The important thing about these two aircraft are that they both have the M299 'smart launcher' integrated on them, to provide the capability to employ Hellfire missiles.
As the DAGR laser guided rocket is designed to operate without modifcation from the M299 launch system, plus provides a useful firepower boost wth 16x DAGR rockets available per launcher (of 4 Hellfires) (or reduced weight and the same number of precision weapons at a lower cost, albeit with less firepower and range) I suspect such a weapon has a very strong likelyhood of employment within RAN and Army, less so within RAAF.
SDB is aready programmed for acquisition by RAAF for use from Super Hornet and JSF fighters. It would not surprise me if both SDB I and II were acquired in a staged acquisition for RAAF usage... |

Each JAGM proposal has an IR seeker. Indeed that seems to be the majority of the decision that has to be made with JAGM, whether to opt for a cooled or uncooled imaging infra-red seeker. A winner has not yet been chosen between the 2 missile types offered for this contest, though an uncooled seeker was considered good enough for SDB II... |
