For what it's worth, I was the 64th commander who initiated the two new Nellis F-16 paint schemes as part of the iron swap that netted the Block 25s from Duluth last year (when our Block 42s split to the various winds). My DO and I considered numerous new paint schemes and settled on painting a couple jets in the Arctic scheme (since there is snow on the Nevada ranges for 8-9 months out of the year) and a couple in a distinctly new style. Based on his recommendation after reviewing hundreds of paint schemes worldwide, I forwarded the "Blizzard" scheme up the AF chain for approval. It was approved at the HAF about a year ago, and then took another 8 months for all the hoops to be jumped through, etc. As always, a priority for Aggressor paint schemes is to make them distinct enough to be instantly recognizable at a merge as non-friendlies, enhancing realism for Blue air-to-air training. (The 64th may be gaining more iron when the 65th is decommissioned as an Aggressor squadron, so you may see more of the newer paint schemes over time.)
