| One would imagine it came down to money? One more budget expense which might not have been deemed justified? Durability Testing and clearance evaluations, etc would have just taken time and money and perhaps it was assessed the F-15E class already had enough station points to suit any profile. Perhaps with respect to the F-15SE, they are envisioning a justified utility for activating such outboard stations, given the potential reduction of other hardpoints? |

I just received an email back from a Boeing rep. Not much on history of them but an outlook for current/future production.
"The addition of stations 1 and 9 provide added weapon carriage capability. The stations can carry up to 1000 pounds each and are 1760 compatible. A new weapon launcher must be designed to adapt to these stations.Stations 1 and 9 are being offered now beause the F-15SA will include a Fly-By-Wire system. This system allows for the intergration of these additional weapons stations." |
