You're a bit late to the party; the T-50 has been flying for over a year now.
In order for the Russians to reverse engineer an F-22, they would have to have access to one, which they do not.
I would not say that the T-50 is a copy of the F-22. The mission requirements of the two are similar enough that the two will naturally have some resemblence to one-another. Planform-alignment, twin canted vertical tails, chined nose...all are good for stealth (and also present in some other ATF proposals). It does look like there is influence from the F-22A in the design in places (look at the wing tips), but to say it is a copy is unfair. I can see plenty of Su-27 inheritance in the T-50 as well (widely-spaced engines, tail sting, forebody-shielded inlets). |
