It's exactly this type of thread that deminishes this website.
Why don't the far right-wing loons go join a website that specializes in twisting any story to match their own twisted minds? Yeah, right, THAT ain't happening! They would prefer to bore the rest of us.
Looking for anything you can use to support your own hate-filled political foolishness just makes you even more rediculous.
I've had enough. I thought this was supposed to be a forum on F-16 technical and operational issues. Time to look for a SERIOUS website!
See Ya! |

Yup, thought so. Thanks for proving my point, but in reality, you are still missing my point, so here it is:
1st503rdSGT??? Professionals in the military refrain from slandering the President, no matter which party, or denigrating the Secretary of Defense. Also, perhaps like you, I should have made my handle on this website more [Link pending approval] |

Active, guard, and reserve service members behave themselves on this website with respect to comments on the POTUS and their CoC. We military veterans (retired/separated) however will voice our opinions. That's a freedom we have. That's a freedom we WILL exercise. That's a freedom we have FOUGHT for. You should be happy we can express dissent and displeasure with our government and not have to worry about disappearing in the middle of the night. You support our freedom to express dissatisfaction with our elected public officials, right? Americans are allowed to form their OWN opinions even if they are different from yours, right? Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Now am I assuming you are a socialist? No, absolutely not. However, I call it like I see it sometimes. I will state my observation. -Ducit Amor Patriae-
Now, back to the topic. I think the overall topic was posted by someone who is not a US citizen. It's worth talking about because we (and other countries) give a ridiculous amount of aid to China and have been for a long time.
http://www.usaid.gov/locations/asia/countries/china/
China could be scamming the world saying it needs aid as a developing nation when it really doesn't.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/08 ... debt-woes/
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39361557/#.TqhGbnJmmnw
That's just the tip of the iceberg. We give China tens of millions of dollars in aid, and then borrow a trillion bucks from them and give them our business and they protest us wanting to sell Taiwan more F-16s? China also gets millions of dollars in aid from plenty of our allies who also have debt with them. Something just isn't right here. I say sell RoCAF as many F-16s as they want. |

| As I said, thanks to both of you for proving my point. This is obviously a POLITICAL website, not an aviation one, so I am out of here! |

No, this isn't a political website. You rushed to judgement after only 6 posts, sadly. NOBODY put a gun to your head and made you participate in the political aspects of this discussion. I tend to ignore the political stuff the few times it pops up and take part in the aviation focused debates and dialogue.
However, as a college educated, field grade officer (I have my doubts though) and instrument of foreign policy, you should know that any time you are dealing with the sale of military hardware such as aircraft, politics come into play. Now, if you are, in fact a AF Major, I would like to hear your input on the topic at hand no matter what political affiliations you have. If you want to disengage from a discussion that might actually turn out to be pretty good, when everyone powers down and focuses on the topic, then go ahead.
I would like to continue talking the factors that are keeping Taiwan from purchasing brand new F-16s and perhaps why they even need them in the first place. Discussing the planned alternative of upgrades would be interesting, as well. |

As well you shouldn't, if you're still in. There's still plenty of other topics where your background could prove useful (within the limits of OPSEC of course).

Correct. Of course, we as mods should be more vigilant and move threads like these to an off-topic or miscellaneous section. We've done that now, be it a bit late.
We've also edited the thread a little; no personal attacks please! |

Just because this guy is a flight commander does not mean he flies F-15Es or knows anything about them. A flight is the same as an Army company, which means he could have commanded an number of different units not even associated with aviation at all.
I'd like to continue to discuss this topic, but maybe the moderators could find a more appropriate name for this thread instead of "Obama surrenders to China". One that is less politically charged. |

(Note to Webmasters - thanks for changing title of this thread)!
On a more positive note (I think) Iraq has ordered twelve F-16 Falcons which should "keep the production line in Fort Worth running through 2015" See http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/ ... 0Confirmed |
