Ok I know this may be in the realms of fantasy.... but.

I would guess sometime or another the US offered the UK or Saudi the F-16 near its original creation.

At that time the standard missile operated in the role the F-16 would take was the Red Top on board Lightnings.

It was much more advanced at the time than the existing Sidewinders being faster, more manouveurable and more importantly being all-aspect.

So my question is this, was there at any time any offer to clear Red Top on the Lightning, or flight tests for carriage.... at any point in time of development.

It may sound far fetched but it has been bugging me for a while whether it did or not.

Thanks
Andy
