I'll proberly be in LA sometime in the near future,and i heard of general tours of bases.Edwards afb do tours, and I have a few questions.
I was wondering wether it is worth it or not?
What you get to see?

Sorry, but I know of no USAF open houses in the LA area. Maybe El Toro for the Navy Marines.
I have been to about 20 AFB's around the nation. I would getin with my late friend and buy T shirts at the BX there.
Almost all active bases have a day in the Spring for Open House every few years or so.
The USAF then shows off it's planes on static display and the F-16 Thunderbirds are a guaranteed crowdpleaser.
I do not know of any daily or weekly tours of AFB's unless they have a special area like a museum.
In 1981 and 1984 I got the privilege of entering Kirtland AFB New Mexico to see the US Atomic Missile Museum which is open to the general public.
All I had to to to enter was show my ID and I signed a yellow pass and I had to keep my pass. I was allowed unescorted to park my car and I visited the museum. I even got to climb all over the Atomic Cannon! Awesome experience!
The Library there is unparallelled and I was reading books that should be classified. They are not.
I missed the tour of Sandia National Labs. But I got to see the EMP device used to test fighters.
I hope security has changed there since 9/11.
Both Luke AFB and Davis Monthan have open houses also. Most bases do.
It is a recruiting thing. I wish I could join the USAF!
