| There are several civilian T-38s and F-5 two seaters that you most likely could hire for a ride. |

Another option then, would be to buy a private island, declare it to be your own country, build an airforce for it, purchase whatever fighter ypou want, get trained by teh company and fly it within your airspace...Just kiddin'
Bur guys, thanks ffor teh useful inputs....I am from India, we have some good planes in teh Indian Air Force, but am now over aged to be elliginle for teh airforce.
My next doubt is, how good are teh piggy back rides..? Do tehy do 360's and so on, and do you feel anything close to the thrill of actually flying it..?
@Hobojet
Good question...I think teh companies taht make them are not allowed to sell them to civilians... |

| I'd rather buy an old Mig-17 or -21. They are cheaper, easier to fix and get parts for. |

Try again in about 40+ years time when all the Vipers are retired from ALL airforces of the world. You just might get one....
That's a shame it's too soon for the F-16 to go! but if I'm rich I will buy one. |

Sorry if this question had been asked before (I'm brand new), but I was wondering,? Do you guys think in about 20-30yrs civilians will be able to own and/or fly an F-16? This is kind of a dream question for me....
So, what do ya think? |

Probably yes, then again maybe not
You've probably heard of Worf owning a Sabre, but seeing as the F-86 couldn't break Mach in level flight, whereas the Viper can do that without breaking a sweat, they'd have to re-engine the plane. You don't want people testing out their new Vipers by buzzing their houses at Mach 1.
While there are people that own MiG-29s--one guy we talk about on another thread owns two--they don't fly.
If you want one, start saving now, they're probably going to cost an arm and a leg to purchase, let alone maintain.
(The fee for my opinion on this thread is one free check-ride |

I would have to disagree and say YES...however you won't be able to buy a USAF version. There are VERY strict FAA rules to keep you under mach 1, but there are many privately owned supersonic fighters like F-100s, F-104s, T-38/F-5s (F-100F and T-38/F-5 civilian owned across the field from my ANG base)...I believe both were retired from Canada.
No USAF fighters for sale as far as I know, but you can buy them from other countries when they're done with them and then label them as experimental acft. No ejection seats allowed for experimental either... |
