Hi,

I'm totally new to F4AF and have a problem in that the graphics sliders on the settings page won't go above the following settings on both my laptop and desktop machines:
Landscape texture - 5
Landscape detail - 7
Object detail - 7
Special effects - 5
I can put the level down to lower settings, but can't go up beyond the above settings. Is this normal?
My desktop is a twin processor 3GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 8600GT
My laptop is a dual-core [Link pending approval], 2GB RAM with ATI X200M
I'm running the .13 patch. I tried it on the laptop to see if the sliders would be set to lower levels, but they were just the same as my desktop machine.
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thats normal - adjust graphics card settings and screen res for a better display

Thanks for your reply, flighthawk. I've tried changing resolution (up and down) and altering all the other graphics setting, but the sliders still refuse to go any higher. The sim is playable as is, but it seems strange nothing changes the max possible settings on 2 different machines.

Those in game sliders dont go any higher regardless so ignore them - what I mean above is if you are after slightly better looking graphics you need to run a higher screen res, use 32 bit textures, and set the AA/AF higher in the graphics card settings.
And dont expect miracles in the graphics department - AF is a 2005 brush over of a 1998 graphics engine.

Ah, ok, understood - thanks for that. I'm running AF at 1280 by 1024, so I think all I need to do is up the AA a bit. I've downloaded Free Falcon [Link pending approval], but don't want to install that until I've learned the basics on AF.
Appreciate your help, Sir.
