Because it is always good to know better your future place of work..
For all who want to know what's what and where to find it up in their office for a long and successful career.. Smile Smile like a Viper does. Wink

By the way.. I would like to leave one question. Viper's cockpit is mostly and widely known from it's comfortability and ergonomics. Buble canopy, recline seat, hotas, care-free handling and pilot's friendly layout. I'm just curious.. is there really NOTHING that could be better in this area? Is there something yet to be done to make it even better.. or it's just cutting edge masterpiece..? Although it is true fighter pilot's fighter - by the pilots for the pilots. I'm counting heavily on the feedback from current and former pilots as well as crewchiefs, also the more if you have an experience with other aircrafts.

I'm not sure why you would want crew chiefs opinions, Specialists spend waaaaay more time in the cockpit.

Yes, surely that means different vievs on the thread.. always very valuable indeed.

So far I had a chance to sit there twice reaching total amout of (SI) 'Sitting Hours' Wink of 10 minutes or so. For me it was like standing on another planet. Dream coming true.. though yet not airborne. Bubble frameless canopy with it's unparalleled field of view makes a feeling like you on top of the rocket or flying carpet, as well reclined seat also makes it very convenient. Everything there was that much different from each other western and soviet jets which I've been in. I felt like everything there was so perfectly matched although first impression when you're looking into the 'office' - it really seems to be cramp (it's not even that easy to get in properly for the forst time). But already you're there you can close your eyes and your hands easily find stick and the throttle as well everything vital around. I could not escape the impression that I not only got into the airplane but I have become an integral part of it. I thought I could live there Very Happy even without fridge and microwave. That was blk 52plus and it was cooooool. But Block 60 - that what I would cold * PERFECTION*. I think even the Raptor is inferior at that point.

The whole enviorment gets even better when you use the Helmet Mounted Display (JHMCS for most F16s). Most pilots love the situational awareness it adds.

If I could make one mod it might be a little more shoulder room in the cockpit. Kinda like what the Eagle has. But I can understand why it is the way it is. The Viper's pit is real cozy once the lid comes down. Would be nice to be able to move around some on the longer sorties.
