Hello,
I found this image of an SR-71 and I don't understand what's going on with the guy at the top of the stairs, behind the pilots:
Is he carrying one of the helmets? And what's the white box; is that a sign on the stair rail or is he carrying something else?
Also if anyone can find, or has this image or an image like it in high resolution I would be very much interested in seeing it. |

| PSD troops, i.e., Physiological Support Division. They do the Aircrew Life Support for the U-2 and at that time SR-71 crews. Yes, he is holding one of the crewmembers' helmets. The long container is a portable air conditioner. It hooks up to the pressure suit via an umbilical, and is used to keep the Pilot and RSO cool while in transit to and from the aircraft. |
