| The Cobra is nothing but "ooh-aah" for airshows. It does show the Su-27 has an impressive high-AoA capability, which could be helpful for getting guns on, but the actual manuver is nothing but flash. Its the aerial equivalent of a car doing a brake-stand burnout. |

Hey all, im new here =)
I am looking for a certain F/A-22 video, and since there are already so many F/A-22 video topics in this forum, i decided to reply to this one.
I was just watching a show on the History channel today called "Modern Marvels: Extreme Aircraft", and it had a segment with the F/A-22. During the segment, it showed a great clip of the F/A-22 unmistakably doing a Pougachev's Cobra with a 180 degree hook turn. If you don't know what I'm talking about, its the EXACT same move the Super Flanker does at 5:30 into this video:
http://bemil.chosun.com/movie%20link/SU-35.wmv
Actually, to tell you the truth, the one the raptor does in the video is even better, because in the video above the flanker doesn't get from horizontal to vertical as fast.
I really want to get my hands on this video, because whenever there is a discussion between the F/A-22 and the SU-37, or even F/A-22 manuverability in general, the Cobra manuver ALWAYS comes up. These are the general responses I usually get:
either,
1) They say the F/A-22 can't do the cobra at all
or
2) if the Raptor CAN do the cobra, it can't do it with a 180 degree turn like in the video above, because the SU-37 has Multi-axis thrust vectoring while the F/A-22's TV can only go up and down.
Now that I know both of those statements are baloney, I want some ammo against all the F/A-22 haters, so I can finally prove them wrong once and for all.
If anyone knows where I can download this video, please tell me. The VHS tape of the show off the Modern Marvels website isn't for sale anymore.
Also, to sferrin, can you repost those videos please? I missed them when you posted them and the links don't work now. https://upload.video.google.com/ and http://www.patricksaviation.com/ are two good places to upload them if you don't know where to host them |

> Not sure if a Raptor can execute a Cobra
The F-22 can perform the whole range of "post stall" maneuvers even though the USAF and IDF/AF feel the cobra is a B.S. maneuver [I agree]! I read the F-22 can also fly level while at AoA of +60* to -45*!!!

If you go to this website and click on the videos section, you wiil get a better selection of movies on the F/A-22. If you look at the video called "Dangerous", you will indeed see the F/A-22 performing the cobra manouver |
