Hello all ,I`m new to this [Link pending approval] have a question about the numerous color variations i see the AIM-9M sporting.

I`m into high power rocketry and am in the process of building a scratch version of an AIM-9 [Link pending approval] rocket will be 3" in diameter with all the bells & whissles including a machined cast acrylic /aluminum seeker head.

Can somebody tell me what color this thing should be ? (not the training rounds or blue inert stripes versions)

I see the missile in white ,white & gray aft fins ,all gray (light ghost ?)

Can somebody help me with [Link pending approval]`m into scale aircraft modeling ,so FS colors or similar will be OK ,but I will be using rattle cans for thos project.

Thankyou for any info you may share.

Grey with a brown or yellow stripe. Any other color should be a training round. I could be wrong of course.

Missile body should be gray, the brown band means that the rocket motor is live and the yellow band means the warhead is live.

Indeed, I understand the band colors and their meanings as it pertains to inert rounds ,test rounds and live rounds or the combination of both (opperational seeker ,inert motor etc.)

Just need a specific FS# or close for the missile [Link pending approval]`m guessing it `s usually the same color as the aircraft itself, including pylons /launch rails ?

Thanks for replying
