Hi guys,
Don't know if you guys have noticed yet but there are no less 5 Viper demo's at RIAT 2011!
Displays are currently confirmed from - Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and Turkey!
Will be good fun, need more fast jets now that the Raf Typhoon demo has been cancelled this year!

Well, with 5 Viper demos, that should be an awesome RIAT. It should be interesting comparing the intricacies of each country's demo of the same aircraft at the same show.
Interested to know why the RAF's Typhoon demo was canceled for the entire year? |

The official announcement is that it will return once Libya ops are over. They don't have the planes, crew or pilots to have a demo team at the moment.
Falklands, QRA and Libya have to take priority. Sad state of affairs really.

| I feel for you guys. The Typhoon is your current and future airpower. How many do you have in service and do you guys employ only one certified Typhoon demo pilot? |

Official figures are 52 aircraft delivered...
Current requirements are 4 in the Falklands, 4 aircraft on QRA altert in the UK and 10 on Libya duty. But yes, one display pilot and a second "ferry" pilot as they take two jets to a show plus associated ground crew.

Andy
Rethorical question: no Harrier, no Tornado F3 and no Typhoon - no British front line fighter display at RIAT in its 40 year history?
