Hi,

I'm currently in my fifth year in college, and recently I was looking at my grades and I realized that they are slowly going lower... I had about a 3.40 GPA about two years ago. Now it's closer to 3.30. Last I checked, the minimum for prospective pilots was 3.2, and I'm beginning to get scared I may not make it. I'm studying computer engineering, and the classes have really picked up in terms of difficulty the last year. I don't want to change my major, as I have only about a year left to finish, and if I couldn't be in the Air Force I would like to work in this field. So my question is, if I take extra classes to get my grades up, is that ok or will the AF only look at what was necessary for me to graduate (i.e. only those classes I needed)?

In a somewhat related note, I have heard and read that the AF has quite a few pilots right now, and that getting a pilot slot is real hard if you want to do it thru OTS (which is my case). If I decide to go into the Navy, will I stand a better chance of getting a pilot slot?

Thanks,
Tino

Salute!

Tough row to hoe, man.

With all the semester hours or quarter hours already in the bank, raising GPA at this stage is extremely hard - do the math.

A "major" is neat, but it's lots easier to get than a pilot slot. If it means a lot, you can get it AFTER getting your wings.

Gums sends...

Is there a technical writing or professional technical communications class available at your school? I'm in the electrical engineering program at UT Dallas, and I've heard that it's an easy A. Maybe your college has something similar.
