This is a nice to have capability, but I have to say 'must have' too... RAF Sentinel and Sentry enable critical time rescue of downed F-15E crew.

Respects. Salute

Good old Sun reporting, just a shame you can't trust a word they say.
From the article referring to the Typhoon: "Flying at twice the speed of sound it is over Libya in just TEN minutes." Laughable reporting froma laughable 'news'paper.

The article says "Sharp-eyed British crew on board RAF Sentinel and Sentry surveillance planes picked up the locations of both men and were able to feed vital information to rescuers."

I have to laugh at the sharp eyed bit, I mean everyone knew it was going down, it was boradcast on the open Malta ATC channel for gods sake. Typical ego-stroking rubbish from the Sun i'm afraid.

Thanks for that perspective Shep, I confess I am not up to speed on various media outlet biases, although I have to respect RAF Sentinel capabilities and role.

Can you PM me or reply a link to any further details on this downing? Is the open Malta ATC channel still open? Can you give a link to that? Thanks.

Malta ATC linky
http://www.liveatc.net/search/?icao=MLA

It tends to get very busy in the evenings (UK time)

The Scramble website has some info on the various goings on

Even without Malta's ATC Freq., as soon as a crew pulls handles, it's not a big secret that somebody's punched out.

Glad that the ACES II seats worked as advertised, and the crew is doing ok.
