Well, I'm finally about to graduate. June 2011!
Getting my BS in Aviation Flight Science at Western Michigan University

Got my AFOQT scores yesterday:
Pilot 92
Nav 67
Academic Aptitude 70
Verbal 72
Quantitative 60

TBAS: Taking it on the 23rd

My GPA: 3.24 currently, hopefully will only be going up with my last semester!

Flight hours by the time I graduate: Probably around 250. Commercial, Multi add-on ratings.

Age: 27 in July

Anybody got any tips?

I'm sending packets to South Carolina, Vermont, and DC (assuming I can get my TBAS score back in time for their 28 Feb deadline).

Anyone from any of these bases? Would love to hear about them!

Also applying at my home base here in Battle Creek for the C-27.

Salute!

So far, so good.

I would also send a package to Baltimore. I know it's Warthogs, but ya gotta start someplace.

Sioux Falls is another one.

I would also look at USAF Reserve outfits. Good friend's daughter had her way paid and flies for the outfit in St Paul. She had about same background and had paid her way for all the private tickets and time.

Hogs, I would not be opposed to flying one of those Smile They have the C model right? We used to have the A-10C here at BC, then they got sent to Selfridge and we're getting the C-27 now. Trying to find info on Baltimore's UPT... Not seeing anything on their site

Certainly will check out reserves too!

Thought up this question:
Who are the best people to get letters of recommendation from? My options are:
1. My 3 bosses where I intern in a corporate aviation department. I work closest with 2 of them, but the 3rd is the head of the maintenance department. Could they all sign one letter and have it count as one? I know all three of them would speak highly of me. Or would it be best to just have the director of maintenance write one. I know him fairly well and work with him on occasion, but I primarily work with the other 2. Do UPT Board members like to see higher levels in the letters, or people that you work with most?
2. My CFII
3. My Aircrew Flight Equipment boss in the ANG
3. Squadron commander
4. Group commander

Thoughts?

Salute!

Zap me a PM, Van.

I'll get you in touch with the folks there that cannot be reached on the 'net. Current security procedures have really restricted the military sites.

I did this a few years back for an Apache driver your age who is now flying for a Guard Viper outfit.

P.S. Best bet is to drive to a unit and walk in the door with all your paperwork and say, "I hear you guys are a neat outfit looking for a bright nugget with a little flying time. I am here to see if i can help."

You may want to check with the MC-12 IRS aircraft. They will be around for a while.

Redvan,

congrats on excellent scores, how did it go? what was your application (and hopefully interview) experience like?

I will be applying to DCANG next UPT season (finally, after years of research and prep).

appreciate it.
