Hey guys,

Does anyone have info on how to do the military style landing approach? As far as I know, they do a pass over the runway at ~500-1000 feet, break left at midfield, and do 270 degree turn to arrive at a very short final. I think this is only a VFR type approach, considering they do not use TACAN/ILS while doing so (they are on final for maybe 10 seconds).

I haven't been able to find any info online about it.

This approach can be seen in these videos:

Vid 2
Vid 3 (very good series by the way) Around 13:20

Called a closed pattern. Very common. In fact, can't think of a single time when weather wasn't a factor that my pilot chose to fly the standard overhead pattern.
