Hi,
Whilst trying to verify the correct nomenclature for the F16 ADF varaints, I have been unable to categorically state which is correct.
It has been suggested that F16A ADF and F16B ADF is correct whilst it is also stated that as the frames are modified A/B's they "drop" the A/B and simply become F16 ADF. Please can any member advise which is the correct presentation?
Thanks and Regards
Bob |

Why should they drop the A/B designation? That way you are unable to tell whether they are one or two seat models. What we do tend to drop is the block 15 designation since all ADF models are converted block 15's. But officially even that is retained.

| Air defense fighter is just terminology for those Block 15 F-16A and F-16B aircraft that were given certain equipment for the air defense mission. Like Bjorn says, they are still F-16A and F-16B aircraft and they are also still Block 15 aircraft. The equipment differences were not significant enough to warrant a different block designation. |
