The 69th FS is now the new associate reserve squadron at Luke AFB in place of the 301st FS. They have recently painted F-16C 90-0769 with markings of the 69th FS including tail band and boss bird markings. Who really owns the aircraft (310th FS)?

My guess is it's owned by the 310th. Back when the 944th sent all their jets away, the 944th boss bird was owned by the 63rd. As far as I know, the 944th has not owned any jets since late '07-08.

The other weird part about an article I read was that the 301st FS [edit]My mistake, got the 301st and 302nd mixed up.[edit] went to Holloman. I know the 301st FS went to Alaska as an associate squadron so perhaps it moved again.

Thanks Raptor DCTR, that would have been my guess. The 310th FS did own the aircraft prior to the 69th FS markings being added.

The 301st did go to HO but did not transfer from Elmendorf. The 302nd is the Reserve FS up here.

Actually, the 308th AMU had/has the 944th flagship in their fleet. I think it is one of the older Blk 42's: 87-03**. Don't know exactly. The 69th FS Flagship is in fact assigned to the 310th AMU.

I second that!! I was in the 69th at Moody for 8 years and retired in 99 just before they inactivated... It makes my day to see them flying again!!
Thanks!

I was there after the 307th deactivated in '95 thru '97.

Actually, we owned our own flagship. The 944 flagship was 86-0283 and the 302nd ship was 86-0291( the one with the red tail) and they were both blk 32's. The 301st ship was never assigned to the flying side of the 944th, it was always active duty and we didnt work it.
The last jets left the 944th in January of '07. I was in formation when they taxied out and was one of the last specialists there.
The 301st did transfer to Holloman, and the 302nd went to Elmendorf flying F-22's as part of the 477th. Get it? 477= half of 944.

go Helyuns

This may be true, however, after the jets (Blk 32's) left, the 56th FW continued to marked a local assigned aircraft with the 944th tail flash, and this jet was or is still assigned to the 308th AMU. I will verify the tail number... more to come.

Probably true, but with a minor timeline difference, while we (the 944th) still had flying ops going, the 56th never had a jet marked with 944, only after we left. The active side at Luke had a hard time acknowledging the Reserves. As a sidenote, we had a few blk 25's as well.

Gustav,
we are not talking about about the timeframe when the Blk 32's were on station. I understand that while the 944th had jets there, that they had their own flagships. I am simply referring to the Flagship that is currently marked as the 944th flagship. (which is a Block 42 tail #87-0360 in the 308th)

Apparently the Active side of the base NOW acknowledges the Reserve side by having the 944th WG and 69th FS painted on aircraft tails in the 308th and 310th AMU's in the absence of 944th permanently assigned aircraft.
