| For ACC T-38's, it is M1 Support Services. |

Can someone explain what the various modes are that the T-38 is switching to? |

Will the Vance AFB T-38 “football stadium” aerial demonstration team be doing the flyover for the T-38 acceptance ceremony at Tyndall?

| It's the T-38C's A/A Master Mode. It's a simulated Snap Shot LCOS pipper (I think that's what they call it). |

| One more pile-on: in several of those engagements the -38s are already dead. |

Well actually the T-38 is pretty difficult to gun, it's a tiny target! Raptors and Eagles (or better yet, FLANKERS)... psh. they're the size of a barn, how could you miss?
Oh yea, Raptors are REAL easy to gun. Can't see 'em on RADAR, you're dead before you ever hope to see one, thrust vectoring, super cruise, super maneuverability.... So on and so on, but yea, they're pretty easy to gun. Hell, those things don't stand a chance against a missile.....
Well, once you're in a gun WEZ at the floor. Didn't say you would ever get there
Well, in fact no you won't get a Raptor in your gun WEZ or a good missile shot on one and don't post some lame video from YouTube of a superbug or viper with a Raptor in its gun sight. Those aren't real engagements. They're set up to give the Raptor a disadvantage. In a real life operational engagement, you'd be dead before you even knew there was anything out there. A Raptor driver is not going to get close, he's going to launch BVR without you even knowing he's there.
Raptor DCTR, I agree with you in general. That Raptor is an a$$-kicker. However, if a Raptor is outnumbered 3 or 4 to one, or 5 or 6 to one, which isn't beyond the scope of reality, you don't think a guy will ever get close enough to put one in a gun WEZ...ever? I disagree with you. Quantity has a quality all its own. No jet is invincible. Period. |

Here's the actual Langley info - they're getting 7 T-38Bs from Korea.
Quote:
Talons for Langley: The Air Force will station seven T-38 Talons at Langley AFB, Va., for use as companion trainers for the F-22s of Langley's 1st Fighter Wing. They will give Langley's F-22 pilots additional flight hours and serve as Raptor adversaries in flight exercises. Capt. Shannon Collins, Air Combat Command spokeswoman, told the Daily Report that the T-38s are scheduled to arrive between March and September 2011. Dual-qualified F-22/T-38 pilots as well as pilots awaiting F-22 training will fly these T-38s, she said. No additional pilots will be assigned to Langley. These Langley-bound aircraft are reported to be ex-South Korean T-38Bs and not Air Education and Training Command T-38Cs. M1 Support Services of Denton, Tex., will maintain them. News surfaced at the end of November that the Air Force intends to base a T-38 contingent at Tyndall AFB, Fla., also home to F-22s, for similar purposes.
Again, it's from the AFA today.

| According to the article concerning Tyndall, they will be gaining a "combat ready" Raptor squadron from Holloman. Does this mean that Tyndall will be going from AETC back to being an ACC base with an FTU function? |

| I know this is an old thread, but I work on the T-38 contract at Holloman. We're very slowly getting through the regen's of the Korean 38's. Also the Test Group here received four C models and will be getting rid of the 3 B models they currently use. |
