How much would it help me to have a glider private pilots licence if I wanted to get into the Academy, and if i got in, would it help me while there??

It definitely can't hurt you, that's for sure, but as to how much it would help I'm not sure. Most people there don't have any flight experience at all so it may help your application stand out a bit more from the rest, but overall they're looking for how well you did in high school, all your extracurricular activities, any volunteering you've done, leadership roles, etc. If you're interested in becoming a glider IP there or joining any of the other glider teams (acro, cross-country), I think it will definitely help you to upgrade faster. Had a friend there who had his glider license before he got in and was able to upgrade a lot faster since he got to move through a few phase of their training faster, if not completely bypass some.

Listen to Delta-breath.

The USAFA acceptance criteria balances test scores, extra-curricula activities, and such.

The Air Force is interested in the "whole" person, and not just future fighter pilots.

Gums sends.... class of 1964, fighter/attack pilot, AAGG.
