| I received an email about the F-22 the other day that spoke of a 'Black Out' switch the pilot can press for missile evasion that will allow to aircraft to pull excessive Gs to 'out turn the missile and control the plane while the pilot is in G-LOC. Sounds like a civilian's Hollywood twist on a G-LOC recovery system, maybe? |

I thought GCAS would surely be automatic?
Anyway for what its worth i'd heard Typhoon has an 'auto missile dodge' feature built into it and if thats true I doubt the F-22 wouldn't have such a feature too.
(Obviously 'auto missile' dodge isn't its real name, I don't know what the feature is actually called) |

The “auto missile dodge” switch is probably located right next to the “get outta dodge” switch.

Anybody remember the "Death Blossom" from the movie the Last Starfighter? Does the F-22 have that?
Also, the should put on a Staple's "Easy Button" for MX- would make sortie generation loads easier... |

| The "black-out" switch is a comical myth. Auto-GCAS, however, should be implemented in the 3.2 update around 2018. |

The latest Vipers already have a Black Out switch, it's on the throttle.

To my knowledge there is no automatic manoeuvring in the Typhoon for missile evasion, but the MAWS/DASS as such provides steering cues on the HUD and audible countdown when to start the manoeuvre sequence. Typhoon's MAWS is active which allows it to accurately time the manoeuvres. The F-22's MAWS is passive IR, like most MAWS. These systems don't provide the necessary amount of data for such timed manoeuvres. |

On the flip side, it'll be easier for an F-22 to break a missile lock. |

Not necessarily. It will be more difficult for the missile seeker to acquire the F-22 in the first place, but once locked the range is most likely so small that changing aspect wouldn't help, on contrary you usually don't expose the aircaft's front to the missile during final manoeuvring and with manoeuvres your RCS changes constantly and is most likely not breaking the lock. This is actually interesting as the F-22 has no defence against such kind of missiles, except for chaff which are increasingly useless against modern missile seekers. The Raptor relies on not being targeted in the first place. |

It's speed will make the WEZ smaller too. |

Ahh yes thats the thing I was thinking about. I knew it had something for missile evasion. |

I'm guessing if the threat's that close, the Raptor pilot will be flying fast. |
