Laughing They're bad enough to try and keep maintained when everything is WORKING! Laughing

I like how my pops put it: "When they built the F-4, they suspended some landing gear in the air and built an airplane around it." LMAO

Don't worry though, only 1 of the 5 Vietnam aces is headed for the chain gang. Wink Yes, like the sanctioning body, I too count WSOs and RIOs.

Beers and MiGs were made to be pounded!

TC,

This group did a really nice video on Bob Hoover about 12 years ago, so I figure this one should be just as good!

Totally Awesome! This will be a monumental task, but a very rewarding one if they can get it to go. There are enough aviation groups out there that want to see the Phantom Phly, so they shouldn't have to worry too much about raising capital. Now, the OVERHEAD for that matter... Confused

It looks like she'll have a B model snout, and S model avionics. Since she'll fly slick, she should be one helluva ride.

BTW, they can raise a lot of dough by taking suckers like me and Parrothead up for rides (hint, hint JR)! Wink

TC,

The jet should hold around 13,340 pounds of fuel, 2000 gallons. So if you shut down with 2,000 lbs on board, say Jet A only costs $3.50 a gallon you are talking about only $5950 for fuel. Rolling Eyes

Add the huffer cost, ground crew, airframe time, and bring your Visa Card Exclamation

Here is an update, over 3 years down the road from the above link that JR posted. It looks like they've almost completed their task of making the plane airworthy after sitting for 45 years. Not certain as to when it will finally fly, but I hope it is soon.

So ... what are they going to replace the QF-4's with??? They've gotta be getting low on QF-4 reinforcements by now, don't you think???

The short answer is QF-16's, someone knows more details, I'm sure.

The AF has shot through their supply of QF-4Gs, and most of the E's. They have just recently started to use QRF-4Cs, and those will be the final Rhinos to be used as FSATs.

After the F-4s, the AF will begin using Blk. 15 A and B model Vipers.

Here's an oldie, from Korat (Nam days), she looks sweet and deadly (as she most certainly was)...

Sorry I had a few I could not help but add....she was a sweet aircraft, I loved her as much as the F-16
