Looks like bad film tinting to me. However, I believe the quote that it is in need of a paint job. It's not an experimental scheme though. For awhile, USAFE Phantoms did carry SEA schemes, then SEA wrap-around became a standard scheme. Not long afterward though, Europe One became the standard USAFE scheme.
Some TAC units carried Europe One as well. I know Homestead, Shaw, and Seymour did for sure. I think Moody did at one point or another. Not sure about MacDill or Langley. I have a pic of Steve Ritchie's D model #463 while it was stationed at Homestead, and painted in Europe One.
P.S. I've finally got a scanner that works worth a $hit (woo hoo!) so I'll soon post some of the pics I've been promising for oh...nearly a year now! Oops!

Ah... that's a negative on the bad film tinting, TC. Check out the patch of tan on the fuselage - it's in the correct tone.
Here's a better pic of the scheme - note how the light green is applied over the tan, suggesting it's temporary or experimental in nature. I recall seeing pics somewhere of 31st, 48th and 58th TFWs F-4s in this scheme too. BTW, does anybody happen to know what's the FS595 color code for the light green?
Let's see the pics you promised!

Pics are forthcoming. Don't worry. Well, then again I have been promising them for nearly a year haven't I? D'OH!
It looks to me like the paint is fading, and these birds may have previously worn a reverse SEA scheme. I've seen several shots of jets wearing a reverse scheme in Vietnam. What the reason behind this was, I do not know. The OD in that jet's paint scheme is looking a little faded too. Then again, the intake ramp looks freshly painted. Could be a replacement part. I've seen several F-15C and D models wearing Strike Eagle radomes, with the dark grey paint instead of the lighter shade for the Cs and Ds.
Looks like a PACAF badge under the windscreen. Can someone confirm?

Ah, yes. Air Force Development Test Center...The Artist Formerly Known as "Armament Division".
They were an AF Systems Command unit, now they fall under AFMC with their newer moniker. One might find some pics on this site with Eglin birds that have "AD" tail codes. They came from the Armament Division.
Their birds now carry "ET" tail codes.
I still need to light a fire under my keester and post those pics. It's getting awfully close to the one year mark since I promised them!

FoxFour,
Nice picks.........I do know that from 79-82 (82 was conversion to F-16A), I never saw the light green paint. In fact, Hahn's jets never had anything but the SEA paint scheme during this period.
Have a great day!

Look at this guy with wall to wall SUU-23's... 5 x gun pods = 500 rounds/sec!
Would've been awesome for CAS strafing in Nam, but then his wingman would probably have to be a KC-135 |

And this is Steve Ritchie's F-4D 66-7463 at USAFA, or it's supposed to be...
My guess is the USNA mids are responsible for this - I've heard of the AFA cadets/USNA mids carrying out pranks on each other's premises, but this one definitely takes the cake! |

He he he...
I talked with Gen. Ritchie about this when we were in Chattanooga this October. He was in his normal upbeat mood about it and he was impressed that they had pulled it off. Another example of Steve Ritchie class…
I asked our Boss when I announce shows now and the General is flying, do I introduce him as the only US non-felon ace… |

TC,
Would it really piss you off if you knew that an airshow team I used to fly for was given an F-4 that was left broken down at a NG base? Thank God the boss declined after we looked at the logistics of taking her apart, transporting her, putting her back together, getting her fixed - then trying to keep that hunk of McDonalds aluminum fixed, and my boss kindly told the base CO, no thank you... And that doesn't even include getting it licensed, and trying to feed two J79s...
