Yes, they took the tires off, then they set it on premade jack pads which are directly inboard of the brakes. They also strapped the landing gear to the wing attach points to keep the gear spread out. They just kept lifting the nose untill they got the hight they needed at the tail. I have no idea what the final hight was but they used dunnage under the nose tire to keep the nose up.

Suspended from the Ceiling. The atrium was built for an aircraft but none were available at the time of construction. The director of the Frontiers of Flight museum suggested we talk to the 149th Aviation Battalion in Grand Prairie to see if they would Chinook it down in one piece |

That's good. The FAA poo-poo'ed the chinook flight into Dallas, some nonsense about commercial traffic or something. The Marines, however, were ready to get 'er done. Maybe we'll fly it in to Bonham and disassemble then truck to Dallas.

Any chance one of the railroads would sponsor a trip across their lines? You might check into it as they always like good PR, especially if its on the cheap.

Viking, if you still decide to take it apart here at Sheppard, have you tried talkin to the F-16 Crew Chief School? They got a lot of active duty instructors, some of which may have removed wings before. And I know they could use the "volunteer" statement for performance reports.

Gen. Carey ran the gauntlet and chatted up the brass at Sheppard. Outcome tbd. We have decided on impaling her on a pole in the front of the Medical center. I am thinking about blacking out the canopy, that way I can strip out the cockpit and make a seperate display.
