| I visited Shawfest2010 this past weekend and stayed for both days of flying. Fantastic show! The Viper East demo stole the show IMO, but while wandering around the flightline, I came across an F-16A painted up as a Thunderbird, but with wings that fold up to allow shipping via semi truck! In talking to one of the personnel, they said it was never a production F-16, but it definitely had a full cockpit and was a full size jet. It appeared to be used for recruiting purposes. He did say they had in the past occasionally received requests to remove internal parts off it, but always refused those requests. I wish I had taken more photo's of it, but I snapped the tail section (attached). You can see the horizontal stabilizer aligns with the speedbrake as in pre-block 15 and it had the UHF antenna in front of the nose gear as well. Anyone have more info on this 'jet' ? |

Wow! I guess it could have been that one, but repainted to full T-bird scheme... any previous serial number it may have had was gone.
The guy at the airshow made it sound a lot like it was hauled like the description in that link. Thanks for the feedback... |

| Yeah. 75-0745 has certainly been a jack-of-all-trades. It was the first production-configured version of the Viper with an enlarged radome for the APG-66. It was the GE F101 test platform, used for spin tests, landing chute tests (for international customers), was a static in McEntire colors at the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patt, and is now called "The Folding Falcon" for air shows and recruitment. It's been in T-Bird colors since 2009. |

| Tsk tsk, I wanted to go to Shawfest this year, but I had to attend a graduation ceremony. I did go a couple of years ago. Got to see an F-22 fly. It was worth it. |
