I thought it was Chinese for "tradmark infringment"
Were the fake flowers made in China too???
Actually the 1:72 Zhengmarkinfringefu copy isn't that bad of a copy (but its still a copy), it is a lot better than the Italeri>>Hobbycraft copy.
The absolute worst 1:72 injected kits I have found are the old old Lindberg and Matchbox kits. No one will copy those, not even the Chinese...
The worst decals are in the Trumpeter kit (also a copy of the Italeri molds, noticing a trend here?) they are the thick adhesive peel off kind: |

Fastmover76, the only Trumpeter kit I own is the 1:72 F-16 and, while it is not an exact copy, it is obvious that Trumpeter took the Italeri parts and re-arranged them on new sprues.
The 1:72 Academy F-16 kits are identical to the Hasegawa YF-16 kits, right down to the decals. IMO those molds are/were probably co-owned as the two companies were somehow associated back then.
The 1:48 Academy kit shares many similarities to the 1:48 Hasegawa but is sufficiently different that I would not call it a copy. It also shares many similarities to the old 1:48 Revell kit but no one ever mentions that....
In 1:48 I'd take the Academy kit over, say, the Italeri kit any day. For all it's faults the only 1:48 kit better than the Academy is the Hasegawa.
Man has this thread diverged or what??? |

Yeah, I have a habit of doing that, I think all the threads I've posted to have either been moved or renamed. . .

I've never even seen that kit. I understand that they make a 1/72nd F-5E that mysteriously looks like the old Italeri kit, but has engraved panel lines, seperate wings and a pilot figure (all of which wasn't in the Italeri kit). But, I've never seen that one either.
Those Trumpeter decals suck. . . |

Yeah well they look better here than in person...
I originally tagged them as a linked image but the resulting image was too big. I then included them as an attachment to show how small the decals were and that looked better. There is another thread about how linked images are auto-sized but attachments aren't, it looks like they fixed that so now the decal sheet is large again... |

Yes, the 1:72 Hobbycraft decals are light years better than the cr*p they put in their 1:48 kits.
If I seem harsh in judging Hobbycraft kits (and other copies) it is because they are just that - copies of other manufacturer's kits.
'Cept for their P-59....I actually like that kit, very well done. |

| The 1:48 Hobbycraft F-117 isn't that bad either but I think it is because they did that one themselves instead of copying it from someone else. Ironically, Academy either copied or used the Hobbycraft molds when they did their F-117 in 1:48. |
