As you should know by now, one of my pet peeves is the reality that software is both difficult and vital to modern military gear, while these costs and efforts are underbid or dismissed as something that will just take care of itself. While this is striking in say 5th generation jet fighters, lots of other military gear suffers in the same way.

The DDG-1000 is going to be an amazing ship, assuming the software side works out.
And as we all know, the software side always magically works itself out with no effort at all. Must be those elves who show up in the middle of the night to write software, now that their shoe making jobs have been outsourced to 3rd world kids. |

When it comes to software.... it all sucks at first, some more than others.
Windows ME?
Windows Vista?
Any others we should add?

The members of the 419th FLTS and 337th TES conducted a series of tests that culminated Nov. 15, completing Laptop Controlled Targeting Pod Phase II.
That's why you need a backseater, to operate the laptop. |
