Forum: General F-22A Raptor forum

Hickam is to receive its fist two raptors soon. June 2010. Judging by previous units acquisitions probably within the first week. Hopefully pics will be popping up within a month or two. Anyone have any idea which 2 aircraft they will be? Will be coming from Langley but heard a rumor that one of the two may be coming from Tyndall since they are getting a few of the OT raptors but who knows. Im betting at least one of them will be marked 199FS!!!!

hey howzit going. i'm new here but i am stationed at hickam with the 199th. i am in the Low Obervability shop for the f-22. and our time line show 2 f 22 inbound around the end of june. with ground breaking on the 9th of july for them. i heard rumors from an active duty guy that is now assigned to our shop that the 1st 2 raptor will be TN 44 and 45. any more than that i would love to verify that. we get those 2 birds until jan. as training bird then they will leave for depot and we will be getting 2 more in jan and then 2 more every month til we hit the total of 20. i don't believe i have said anything classified since i also got those dates from the local paper. lol so that should cover my butt. but i am really intrested as to what planes we will be getting that way i can do a little history check on them and see how they stand. i also know that we are only getting hand me [Link pending approval] go figure. but no the less any info would be great. thanks in advance. randy oh and when i get a chance i will post some pix of the tails and aircraft. mainly because i am a f-22 nut and can't wait for them to get here.

Any raptor is a raptor!!! Not really a hand me down though I see your point. 44 and 45 sound right, but you said you only get them till jan and then they leave for the depot? Do you get them back or no? Interesting because holloman kept their original 2. Seems the originals become the wing kings for the ceremony as well. Anyway, Id say those two will be the ones.

Should be arriving within a week!!! Watch for pics!! They are at Hill now for paint/maintenance....

ps : just a question ... what do you think about "AURORA" ? real or just a legend ... "to be or not to be ..."

randychnr, not looking for anything classified, but what does the L.O. shop do? The only things I can imagine are touching up ram paint and maybe checking L.O. integrity with some type of handheld device or special radar room (like an engine room when they strap the a/c down and run the engines up). Once again if your shop's activities are classified just say I can't tell you. Just curious because our club has visited other shops like paint, amx, base ops, environmental, even some of the pilot's bars (aggressors was the best). Thx!

So 046 and 045 both have the standard HH and numbers but both have different tailflashes as well. 045 has the older style like the F-15's and 046 has a grey band with something written on it. Dont know what though.....

Well just when you thought you have seen it all... the 19th Fighters Squadron began deactivating at Elemendorf and have now been reactivated as the active duty associate squadron at Hickam.

If you look at some of the PACAF media pool pics... the two rapters 045 and 046 have different badges on the tail... 045 has the ANG badge and the tail stripe like the 199FS F-15s... 046 carries the PACAF badge and please correct me if I am wrong.. but is that gamecocks marked on the tail for the 19FS???
