laner, I can't speak from experience, but from my impression you will eventually find an opportunity here to apply in the field you are seeking. Dig around in some past posts and wait around for some inevitable future requests. Good luck.

Positive Information may be hard to come by. I spent a year in At Taif. Working on RSAF UH-1Ns.

If you’re looking for money. And getting some more experience. Give it a shot.

If you want a good working environment. Decent conditions. Look for working on a US Military contract. Like in Iraq, Qatar or Afghanistan. There are plenty of them out there.

Good luck.

I don't think people are being too fair. Some contractors are worse than others. Some cities are worse than others. I have received positive feedback from many candidates who have been hired on with different contractors. No matter where you go, someone is not going to like where they are at. It is a job. does everyone like their job, or are they doing their job strictly for the income? If an individual can work for $50-60K tax free with no living expenses other than food and internet/cell phone bills, they might find that enticing no matter where it is. Tell me that everyone who has been in the military (retired Navy myself) had been completely satisfied with where they had to serve, and how much money they made.
I don't know about you, but there were many locations during my active duty where there were a lot of difficult co-workers and seniors, the work schedule really sucked (80-100 hours, 7 days a week), locations that really sucked (in the middle of the gulf without seeing land for more than three months) for money that sucked ($40-45K).

Saudi Arabia just does not seem all that bad after what I had to experience for work in the past.

You are right. There is nothing wrong with Saudi Arabia.

But why would you go there when you can work for a DOD contractor. Make 3 times as much money and access to US Medical Services?

Working in Saudi used to be ok. But now they treat you like the Pakastani and Phillipino workers. Who pay to get a job. And will live their whole life there.

If it was such a great place. Saudi Aramco would never be looking for people.

Like I said. If your looking to get some experience. Its not a bad place to start.
