The F-35 has DSI that avoids the gap.

The F-22 does not have DSI but uses sig management techniques to avoid it being a big issue.

The question is: Did the Russians manage the signature there or did they just let it go?

As far as I can tell, the upper edge of the intake is the leading edge of the F-22. On the T-50, they are two completely separate components.

One thing is certain the shorter intake and airduct of Pak-Fa must be much lighter than the F-22 airduct, IMO weight issue.
Most likely as the whole airduct design are now, it will be partly open to line of sight..
The shockwave spill doors on Pak-Fa will take care of the Airflow adjustment in higher speed regimes.

That's nice haavarla, but the more closely I look at the pak, the more it is looking like a 4th gen fighter.

The T-50 and the J-20 seem to share similar tails and control surface layouts, regardless if wingforms are different. I wonder if the engineers had some common background for choosing their designs. I thought stealth control surfaces were supposed to be locked into place so as to avoid reflections. The all moving tails contradict that philosophy.

As for back ground, the Tu-160 has an all moving stabz. Can't think of anything else.. Do you have any source on your philosophy?
I guess, there are pros and cons with all moving stabz like everything else.

I'm read something about you get quicker respons time in roll direction, with all moving stabz. IF the stabz are canted that is..
