Awesome looking model. Are those the tanks that came with the model? They look an awful lot like an F-16s 370 tanks with no tail-fins, and they seem pretty far forward. Model also made me look at the F-22 pictures and I realized that the majority of them don't have name tapes on the canopy, are they not doing that on the Raptor?

The tanks are not Viper 370s. They are the same tanks the Strike Eagles use. They are also in the correct position. They do look farther foward on the Raptor, but that is an accurate representation of what they look like on the real thing. As for the name tapes, they do not put them on the canopy of the Raptor as they do with Vipers. Find some pictures of the nose landing gear door, and there you will find the name tapes!

Looking at pics 2,4,5 and 6 it give me the impression that a whit some arrangement there could fit 2 aim 9x in each side bay and maybe with a folded-wing versione, also three..

(Picture four) The main bay would accomodate a bigger bomb if they could develope a new shape/variant of.

Even the amraam would let more place for a folded-wing (and longer) version.

In times of internal carriage the folded-wings capablity is a MUST for a new weapon !

They are developing a 1000lb penetrator (think really big SDB case type, no wings) specifically for the F-22... no news on an IOC however.

Great model, but the F-22 is not cleared for the AIM-9X yet.

Tanknick22,

If you haven't already done so, I would also suggest checking out various dedicated modeling sites and ask around. There are some really talented modelers out there that are more qualified to answer your question.

Here's a link that was posted before about this guy's paint work on the Revell-Germany's 1/72nd F-22 Raptor kit:

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8/7501-7600/gal7545-F-22-Rotramel/00.shtm

Jeffb,

For 1/72nd, the most highly recommended F-22 kit is the Revell-Germany version. Everything about it is top-notch and considered superior to other manufacturer's offerings.
