$5 million eh? They take VISA? Wink

The fact they raised the gear of the first flight was pretty ballsy of 'em! Shocked

I saw that they re-did all of the stenciling, cockpit instrumentation, etc. in english. Must have taken an absolute epoch for a bird that complex. I would love to see the two of them in ATAC hands. Their Kfirs make appearances down here in Virginia all the time, as do their Skyhawks. I could use an excuse to see one of these guys at an airshow near here...Very Happy

That is AWESOME!! The take-off roll looked to be about 200'! I can't believe the price (I would have thought a lot more). It's funny you don't realize what a huge plane that is until there are people walking around it. I wonder if it flew 'Code 1'?

I loves me a Flanker! I like the paint scheme, but since it's in civilian hands now, I think they should invest in something more eye-catching.

I noticed in one of those shots that the engines seemed kind of smoky. Is that because of the cold weather or are they always like that? Perhaps it's because it wasn't in afterburner?

Smokey (inferior design IMO). You should see how badly the MiG-29s RD-33s smoke! It looks like the engines are on fire!

Talk about a white elephant... $5 million may seem cheap, but think of the upkeep cost! It's probably in the high hundred-thousands to over a million a year, and it sure wasn't designed to be maintained by just a few dedicated hobbyists.

Some people have expensive hobbies. Look at the few independant Race Car teams that spend a million or more a year just to campaign their car(s) for a race season.

True, and kind of scary when you think about it.

I was thinking the same thing. One may have the dough, but to routinely acquire the spares necessary to keep the aircraft airworthy is certainly a challenge to say the least.

I seem to recall (and this could be mistaken) that the customer will have spares available via Ukraine. Still, it's rather spendy and I'm constantly griping about feeding my firearms collection Razz
