F-16A Block 15s are also amongst the airframes being configured as QF-16s. Read Maintainers resurrect F-16s that will become targets.
#83-1110 is another of the airframes being converted.

Answered my own question. Block 15s get the QF treatment.! |

| That was the plan all along. For several years, the talk has been that the Blk. 15s will go first, followed by the 25s, etc. However, there were more than one model of QF-4s operated at the same time (Es and Gs), so it's possible that the Blk. 25s could be converted and operated at the same time as the Blk. 15s. |

Everything goes now - Block-15s, -25s and "Small Inlet" Block-30s - for now!!
Regarding the QF-4s they´re now converting some of the RF-4C models into QRF-4s.
Cheers,
Henrik. |

"Will be"? Does that mean not all the above aircraft are with Boeing yet? |

| I always knew the day would come when they would used F-16 as target drones, but for some reason I don't like it. Serves me right for making fun of old F-4 guys many years ago. I guess is better to see them go down in a blaze of glory than rusting in the desert just to be sold for scrap metal. |

Will they get a drone colour scheme? |

Based on the QF-4 schedule, it would be 3 months or so. Given that these are probably just a few drops of oil from war readiness, however, I doubt it would take much more than a month to install the drone equipment.
The F-4s have been out in the Mojave for years; a lot of them are fairly picked-over. There aren't a huge number of preserved F-4s, I've only come across documented pictures of a few without the Black Cross of Death'.
68-0490 (my pet Rhino) and 68-0531 come to mind. |
